The design idea of the beachfront house was to reinterpret the local building tradition - use of wood as a primary building material - the expression of lining, cladding, structure and joinery in an unique and raw way. The unadorned timber, a renewable and sustainable resource, provides a link to surrounding nature. The living room is open to the sun and the outside, a metaphorical campsite or tent, while the berooms are cool and enclosed. The large fireplace allows heating in cold wheather and the movable bath and open bathroom allows the rituals of bathing and showering to become close to nature.
